Frequently Asked Questions
-
The main aim of having your chimney regularly swept is to prevent a build up of soot, creosote and tar within the system which could lead to a chimney fire. In addition, regular sweeping reduces the risk of dangerous fumes being emitted into your property and allows a greater amount of air to be drawn up through the system, increasing the overall efficiency of your appliance.
-
This depends on the amount of use the system gets and the quality of fuel being burned, most systems with average use require 1 sweep per year.
If however, your appliance is used as a primary heat source, then at least 2 sweeps per year would be required.
*Please note that most property insurance companies may also stipulate that a minimum of 1 sweep per year is required in order to validate the policy.
